They will always activate it after you giving them a couple of seconds edge over you to strike. I will say this - someone that knows how to counter flight, with aggressive chasing action or their own flight, is very hard to counter. Also remember that flight can't be activated twice in the air, however all it takes is touching your foot on a surface to be able to activate it again. To become even more powerful, save your knowledge potions or charges and you can finish off 3-4 players (even an entire team of 3) from miles in the air without them even knowing you are there.Īlso another direct counter to flight is flight - when someone takes flight go right after them, their 'flight' will end before yours, giving you a moment to get above them and open up whilst they are stuck in free fall and can only levitate and not dodge attacks. I would say I'm a "pro" flight player combined with poison (which i use long range) and fire or wind it makes for an interesting play style and you can dominate the final circle simply by being above the action literally raining dragon fire down on them. Unless they fly directly away from you (even then if you have boots or some perks you can catch them easily) then they will defensively attack from the air - keep in mind they only have at most two chances to land a hit and it's equally as hard to hit a tiny target on the ground as it is for you to hit a tiny target in the air. Most people use it defensively so if someone takes flight - chase them or predict where they will land. If you jump, levitate, then flight from the highest point, you can stay in the air for a good minute before you get within 'reasonable' firing range of the ground. I first used it as defence and overwatch, then started realising I could sneak attack or combine the levitation perk and holding spells to stay in the air for long enough for my 2nd spells to recharge - and with rare flight rune, usually the rune too. I haven't met anyone else that uses flight aggressively. So at this point it seems you either need aimbot or some aim assist to play this game, sounds good. This is completely unhelpful because I do this and they just fly around at lightspeed regardless. You can try to directly hit them with a fireball/wind slash too, or a fire tornado combo when they finally need to touch the ground once in a blue moon, but only lightning and ice truly counter people who like to stay up in the stratosphere all game. You need to use something like lightning bolts (the lightning element's spell attack), a thunderstorm sorcery (which hits at any height), or a frozen sniper bow to get people out of the sky. The stone gauntlet is in the exact same boat too. Poison is also mostly useless against air dwellers for that reason. It is countered by people who are trying to make as much distance as possible between you and them. It's spell is meant for close range because it's spread, and the poison puddle is meant for people who are on the ground.
